Interoperability

· Interoperability is viewed as the working together of information systems, using each other’s data.

· The problem being worked upon is the connecting of information systems based on heterogeneous models.

· Techniques used include category theory to compare representations of data in different models.

· The Open Database Project will provide a framework for testing some of the ideas developed.

· The main workers in this area are Nick Rossiter, David Nelson and Michael Heather.
