While we believe our best resource is our friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and approachable staff , software and hardware resources are obviously of paramount importance in a software engineering programme.

The jewel in our crown is our dedicated games lab, in which we have 20 GameCube development kits. These are the same development environments that games developers use, and is one of two such labs in the country. We believe this is the best such resource in the UK, and we don't just use it as a show-piece to attract students, all our students are taught native console programming from the second year onwards.

All our other labs are excellent, of course, with state-of-the-art standard XP labs, large open-access areas and specialist labs for multimedia, real-time systems, CISCO networking and computer forensics.

In terms of software, our core programming is taught using Microsoft Developer Studio, although students are exposed to other development environments. To list our full gamut of software would be tedious, and need constant udpating, but it is worth mentioning that we have 3D Studio Max, Adobe products (including Photoshop), and Microsoft and Macromedia site licences.
