The use of microwaves for imaging applications is of great interest in the area of security. Microwaves are able to image objects concealed beneath clothing and have the potential to provide high quality images of concealed weapons in a fast and inexpensive manner. Most current systems use intensity-only measurements to produce 2D images of target objects. The focus of this research is to use an indirect holographic approach to create 3D images. This research could impact on airport security where it could be used for the detection and imaging of concealed weapons and plastic explosives.
